REVEALED: Hushpuppi Sold 'Okira' In Lagos Before Travelling Abroad

July. 03, 2020

A prominent British newspaper has reported that former Instagram sensation, Hushpuppi, once sold second-hand clothing locally known as “okrika” in Lagos before hitting goldmine in the Hacking trade.
Hushpuppi was busted in a special operation code-named ‘Fox Hunt 2’ over cyber-fraud involving 1.9 million victims to the tune of N168 billion. The operation was carried out by Police authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of which they later showed footage.
The 38-year-old embattled internet celebrity, whose real name is Raymond Abbas was arrested on June 10, alongside 11 Nigerians for alleged financial crimes committed across the world. Some charges against them include money laundering, cyber fraud, hacking, impersonation, scamming individuals, banking fraud and identity theft.
Daily Mail UK reported that the self-acclaimed social media influencer actually started out as an okirika trader before travelling abroad.
“Mr Abbas started out as a second-hand clothes trader in Lagos before claiming to be a billionaire property developer in Dubai,” it wrote.
Although much of the claims still remain largely unverifiable, it also was gathered that there were interviews with his old friends, who witnessed his early days, claiming his father was a taxi driver in Nigeria.
On Thursday, the Dubai police sucessfully extradited the alleged fraudster from the UAE to the United States rather than Nigeria even after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had described him as “Nigeria’s most-wanted hacker.”
The Anti-graft agency said in a statement “The EFCC is familiar with grisly details of his money laundering transactions, involving many high-profile cybercriminals facing trial in Nigeria.”
It continued, “EFCC is engaging with the FBI in tracking victims of his fraudulent transactions and other fraudsters having direct involvement with him.”
Hushpuppi is well known for his humongous luxury lifestyle, which sees him flaunt expensive vehicles, dine with celebrities, posting pictures of his glamorous state-of-the-art furniture and home on Instagram.
His Instagram page, which boasts of over 2.4 million followers, is filled with posts of him travelling all over the world with his signature luxury bags, designer clothes and shoes, posh watches, fleet of exotic cars, private jets, helicopters, yachts and also chilling in five star hotels.
Raymond, who is seen as a cult-hero amongst a few young chaps in Nigeria and across the world once told his followers that he posts about his luxury life to inspire others to make more of their lives.
“I post a few of these things so that someone can see my page someday and decide not to give up,” he had written.
Late last year, he made newspaper headlines after he claimed that his driver and domestic staffs earned as much a commissioner in Nigeria.
